For most of us, the four short years we had at college are often remembered as the glory days. Whether it was the long-lasting friendships made, the little to no responsibilities, or the all-night parties, college life definitely had its perks.
For many college students, spring classes resume this week. This means no more sleeping in until noon and no more home-cooked meals. Its time to get back to the infamous college student diet, the one thing, I think we can all agree, we don’t miss about college life. This daily regiment took no regards for health, but rather focused on three main guidelines: fast, easy and cheap.
In college, my diet consisted of 5 main food groups:
- 1. Ramen Noodles
Of course this made the top of the list. Ramen Noodles is the staple of a college student’s diet. Coming in at less than a quarter, this delicious Italian cuisine is hard to beat.
- 2. Pizza
Whether it’s delivery, frozen or the on-campus pizza place that’s open 24/7, college students love to eat pizza. Pizza is so versatile that you will rarely find a human being that won’t eat it. The ultimate bonus? No dishes.
- 3. Anything Microwavable
Hot pockets, soup, mac n’ cheese, and spaghettiOs can be found in the cupboards of any student apartment. Zero preparation for these entrees. Just heat it and eat it.
- 4. Caffeine
Whether you are brewing a pot of coffee at home so you don’t fall asleep during your 8 a.m. lecture or stopping by Starbucks before an all-night study session at the library, caffeine gives students the energy boost they crave.
- 5. Alcohol
The primary cause of the dreaded Freshman Fifteen, college students are notorious for tipping a few back on the weekends. Most often taking place at college bars or frat row, college students favorite drinks include rum and coke, jungle juice, jello shots and of course, beer.
What we your favorite foods or snacks when you were in college? What would you add to this list?
